Welcome to Giggle Organic’s first catalogue showing our range of gorgeous gear for Spring/Summer’08.

We are very excited by this project which is a joint UK/Nepali venture to create a selection of garments made from organic and natural fabrics dyed using 100% vegetable dyes and embellished with beautiful handwork by the women of Kathmandu and its surrounding villages.

Whilst it seems that organic cotton is everywhere at the moment, with a number of high profile retailers bringing it into their collections it still only accounts for a miniscule 0.15% of worldwide cotton production.

Demand is increasing on a terrific scale at the moment and currently far outstrips supply, having quadrupled in just the last few years. There can be no clearer indicator of the power of consumer choice in effecting change and the desire for transparency in how our goods are produced.

We believe that the power of consumer choice can affect global trading practices and that the garment trade can be used to alleviate poverty rather than continue to contribute towards it.

Through fair trade and higher environmental standards workers in some of the poorest countries on the planet can get better working conditions, higher wages and be less exposed to dangerous processes and chemicals.
